New Cook At Seliano Dates
As you must know by now, I have a cooking school in Italy. This note is to announce that we still have a few spots left in the March session, March 2 to 8, and with airfares to Italy as low as they are just now – as little as $399 round trip to Rome -- you may want to take advantage of that.
The June session is full, but we are now opening registration for August, from August 24 to 30.
We are going to repeat our very successful Christmas through New Year program, too. That would be arrival on Dec. 27, departure on Jan. 2.
We call the school Cook At Seliano. It's just south of the Amalfi Coast on a farm. I should say two farms. Both are owned by my dear friend Cecilia Baratta, who is the Baronessa Bellelli. On one farm she raises water buffalo whose milk is sold to make mozzarella. This farm, called Masseria Eliseo (a loose translation would be Elysian Farm), also has our teaching kitchen, a modern tile and stainless steel affair, as well as a vast dining room, a terrace to eat on when the weather permits, and some lovely guest rooms upstairs.
My groups, however, do not sleep at Eliseo. They stay at the Tenuta Seliano (loosely Sele Estate, named after the river that flows through this verdant plain), where we also have our breakfast and the meals that we don't cook ourselves, but that Cecilia has cooked by local women using mostly ingredients grown on the farm.
More than just a cooking school, Cook at Seliano is a culinary vacation. We go to Naples for a day for some cultural touring and shopping, as well as a meal at a wonderful restaurant. We visit the ancient Greek temples of Paestum that are down the road from Seliano. We go to nearby Salerno for an afternoon. We do things that you could not do on your own – for instance, visit private homes and apartments for receptions and meals.
