03/17/2001 Archived Entry: "Cruise from Venice to Istanbul"

I have been getting quite a few inquiries about the Radisson Diamond cruise from Venice to Istanbul.

Yes, there is still room aboard this very luxurious ship.

Yes, I am with you and among you all the way and all the time. By the end of the trip, you may well be sick of me.

And yes, there is still time to book the cruise and the optional three-day stay in Emilia-Romagna, the Italian region of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, prosciutto di Parma, balsamic vinegar, fresh egg pasta (tortellini were invented here), mortadella, and many other great foods.

Here are some of the details:

Travel Four and Alice Travel attend to every detail on this 10-day Mediterranean cruise aboard the magnificent six-star Radisson Diamond. I have been on many cruises now, and this is by far the most luxurious and classy ship I’ve traveled on. We’re going from Venice to Istanbul from June 13 to 22, 2001, including an overnight in Venice and a free full-day excursion to the ancient ruins of Ephesus. (I can’t wait for that!)

If you choose, you can also join me on June 9, prior to boarding the ship in Venice, for a fabulous, optional, three-day stay in Bologna, the main city of Emilia Romagna. We will use Bologna (great shopping!) as a base for visiting the small, beautiful cities of Parma and Modena, where we will see Parmigiano-Reggiano, prosciutto and balsamic vinegar being made. I’ll be planning the touring and meals there myself, and conducting two cooking classes/lectures on board the ship, not to mention hosting cocktail parties and going on excursions with you.

The Radisson Diamond, serving only 350 guests in unsurpassed comfort and elegance, has a unique twin-hull design which makes it the most stable deluxe passenger vessel afloat. Do not be concerned about sea sickness. It does not exist on the this ship while it sails the Mediterranean in June. All the spacious, luxuriously-appointed staterooms are ocean view, many with private verandahs. Enjoy the ship’s fine cuisine in two spectacular dining rooms -- the elegant, award-winning Grand Dining Room or Don Vito's Italian Trattoria, a small club with entertainment. On last year’s cruise, everyone adored their Don Vito experience. Indeed, last year’s trip was such a success that many of those listeners are joining me again this year.

Aboard the Radisson Diamond, complimentary wine is served with dinner and there's a complimentary bar setup in every stateroom The ship treats her guests to exciting evening entertainment productions. Or, for evening enjoyment, you may choose an intimate lounge, or try your luck at Chips Casino. The Diamond's Spa and Fitness Center offers state-of-the-art equipment (I’m there just about every morning) and an outdoor pool, whirlpool, and splash bar. And there's so much more.

Radisson was voted Best Cruise Value for 3 years in a row by Ocean & Cruise News as well as best cruise line by Conché Nast readers.
