05/23/2003 Archived Entry: "Memorial Day Round-up"
As Memorial Day fast approaches, those of us without menus may be overwhelmed. If you are having a barbecue and don’t know what to serve, try some of these suggestions. They make a great addition to the normal hamburgers and hot dogs. Trust me -- your friends will thank you.
First, to drink: Gary Regan, master mixologist offers some suggestions for cool summer gin drinks. Or, stir up a batch of this easy red fruit Provençal wine punch. Next, to nibble: Why not bring back a classic and make a platter of deviled eggs? You gotta grill something: Try this great universal marinade. Or, for a more unique grilled meat expirience, fire up some veal birds. To serve on the side: Bert Greene’s famous ziti salad is the best -- enough said. To end the meal: Cool and refresh your guest with a frozen dessert like a semifreddo di Amaretti or Rozanne Gold’s lemon buttermilk sorbet.
